Far Between Share Your Story "Last Call"
Come share your story with Far Between. Saturday, June 21st, will be the last opportunity to share with the Far Between community what it's like to be you before we start editing the full-length documentary film.
Feel free to take a moment to think about what you would most like to share, but no need to stress or overly plan what you will say--these interviews are most powerful when you simply share what's on your mind and in your heart in the moment. We have found that the story that needs to be told is the story you will tell. Feel free to share the ups and the downs, the triumphs and the heartaches.
We generally ask people to think of a piece of their story that would take about 3-5 minutes to share--of course, if it ends up being longer, that's okay. We might have some follow up questions as well.
In case it's helpful, here are some questions to consider as you think about what you'd like to share:
What is it like for you, today, to be LGBT/SSA and Mormon?
When did you first realize that you may have romantic or sexual feelings for members of the same sex?
How was it growing up with the inkling or understanding that you were indeed attracted to members of your same sex? (We are interested in your family, school, church and inner life.)
Did you ever date members of the opposite sex? What was that experience like?
Did you serve a mission? What was that experience like for you? What was the impact on you?
Did you seek “help” for your same-sex attraction through counseling, reparative therapy, and/or church council?
To whom, if anyone, did you turn for support--family, friends, church, mentors, support groups, online blogs/support groups/forums?
When and how did you “come out?” What was the reaction?
Did you try to reconcile your attraction/sexuality with your belief in the church/spirituality? What has that experience been for you? Where are you on that journey? Where would you like to be?
How have you chosen to live your life in light of your sexuality and spirituality?
Wardrobe:
We'll only see the top of whatever shirt you wear, so don't stress or worry too much about it, but here are a couple of guidelines to help you look best on camera:
Please don’t wear white.
Solid colors are often best.
If you do choose a pattern, that’s great, just make sure the pattern isn't too small or dense or it will look weird on camera.

***Please don't park on 1500 E, there is plenty of parking on 2700. (There's even an LDS church whose parking lot should be empty on this lovely Saturday.)
What to Expect:
If you can make it a few minutes before your appointment, we would love it, and, while the slots are 20 minutes, it's a good idea to be prepared to enjoy the company of your fellow sharers for about an hour.
Come ready to share and ready to hangout--getting to know new people and sharing in interesting discussions are part of the fun. We'd also love it if you brought a laptop or something with you to allow you to get the word out about Far Between while you wait.
